Research Portfolio

My work explores how immersive technologies shape embodied experience, from virtual bodies in movement practice to embodied AI agents in social, educational, and creative contexts.

Embodiment, Reflection & Movement

MoveCraft

MoveCraft is my PhD research project on avatar abstraction as a design approach for reflective movement practice. Through interviews with dance and sport practitioners and user studies using a custom VR/MR prototype, the project developed a practitioner-informed design space for virtual bodies, illustrating how abstract avatars can help practitioners perceive, interpret, and transform movement.

Psychosis

Psychosis explored how immersive VR can support reflection on lived experiences of psychosis. Co-designed with medical practitioners, the experience became an early foundation for my interest in embodiment, perspective-taking, and reflective learning in XR.

Cosmoception

Cosmoception was a collaborative research project exploring remote dance through embodiment and distributed performance. As a design researcher, I contributed to avatar embodiment research and user study design, which later informed my PhD research on avatar abstraction and reflective movement practice.

Embodied AI & XR Simulation

Migration Experiences

Migration Experiences is a VR experiment investigating how social discrimination in civic participation settings shapes immigrants’ behavioral and subjective responses. As lead XR designer and developer, I built the complete experimental system, including an embodied LLM interview agent for capturing participants’ subjective experiences through post-experience spoken conversation.

Wound Care XR

This ongoing project integrates an embodied AI coach into an existing VR nursing education simulation. My role focuses on designing and implementing the AI agent’s embodied presence, conversational behavior, and integration into situated clinical learning.

Additional Collaborative Projects

Isles of Emotion

Led by Sinem Şemşioğlu, this project explored emotionally expressive social VR spaces for reflection and communication. I contributed to the research and paper writing as co-author.

KitchXR

Led by Okan Efe Öğretmen, this project explored VR as a spatial user insight tool for design research. I contributed to qualitative analysis and paper writing as co-author.
